Located in the heart of the state of Karnataka, it lies on the National Highway 4 and well connected to neighboring cities and states. According to the local tales, the place derived its name from a lake called ‘Danivina Kere’ which was used by the Chalkya’s to quench their thirst during their long journey. With the course of time, the name evolved to Davan Giri and finally to ‘Davangere’ or ‘Davanagere’.
