About National Informatics Centre, Davangere

Government of India, Ministry of Communications & Information Technology, National Informatics Centre, Davangere, a unit of Premier IT organization of the country was established in the year 1988 with an aim to provide computerization support to the local government system. The offices were set up in Zilla Panchayat Office Premises and District Magistrate’s office. The initial task was to generate computer awareness among the local government officials and encourage them to use NICNET communication facility. NIC Davangere has come a long way since its inception. The district unit is involved in various computerization Projects catering the needs of the District Administration, Zilla Panchayat and other state/central government departments. The district unit also played a major role towards e-governance by designing websites for all the 3 major departments of Davangere District i.e District Administration , Police Department and Zilla Panchayat.

Davangere Website :

Firsts of its kind in Karnataka. The website was officially launched by Shri. S.A. Ravidranath, Hon’ble District Minister of Davangere on 1st November 2008. The site presents the Organizational structure, Political Structure, Departments, Development Schemes and some important statistics related to district. SAKALA:

 (Karnataka Guarantee of Service to Citizens ) :- A Bill has been passed by the Karnataka State Legislature to provide guarantee of services to citizens in the State of Karnataka within the stipulated time limit and for matters connected therewith and incidental thereto. AJSK(Atalji Janasheni Kendra ) :

FCS (Food and Civil Supplies ) :

The Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Government of Karnataka enforces The Essential Commodities Act 1955 and various Control Orders issued there under to ensure proper control of the supply and distribution of, and trade and commerce in, certain commodities. The Department also administers the Targeted Public Distribution System which is an important constituent of the strategy for food security to the population Below Poverty Line. Bhoomi (Land Record Computerisation) :

 Successfully implemented the Bhoomi project in all 6 talukas of Davangere District. A total of 3.5 Lakh RTC’s have been computerised. The software is developed by National Informatics Centre, Karnataka State Unit. The District administration has provided unique concept of displaying theRTCs to the farmers by installing Television sets in place of additional monitors.               

Election Support :

 NIC has always played an pivot role during Loksabha and Assembly Elections at National, State and District level. In Davangere District NIC was involved in computerizing the Pre-Poll Statistics, Deployment of Polling Personals, Randomization of Poll parties, Counting of Votes Statistics and Post Poll Statistics. During the lastLoksabha/Assembly elections the work done by NIC Davangere was highly appreciated by the District Administration. An application package called as Chunav 2004 was developed locally to computerise some of the electoral activities. The district staff worked round the clock and participated in the collection of voting statistics and timely transmission of the election data and result analysis.             

Zilla Panchayat Accounting :

The District Unit of NIC is providing total support to the Zilla Panchayat Accounts Section. A package is developed by local unit for computerisation of accounting process. The package is developed on Unixware/Foxbase enviornment. The package is used for entering the daily voucher details of both the Zilla Panchayat Accounts and Taluka Panchayat Accounts. The package includes modules for generating reports for the user department. The other modules include the Pay package for Zilla Panchayat staff and the Annual Account module
