Introduction

Animal Husbandry sector plays a vital role in agriculture based rural economy. The activities mainly constitute dairying, sheep rearing, goat rearing, piggery and poultry keeping. Although the activities remain traditional particularly in rural India, the process of liberalization and reforms under scientific advancement have made way for private small and big entrepreneurs to invest in this sector.

Conservation and development of animal genetic resources and breed development accelerated productivity.

Administration

State Level Administration: Commissioner, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services is the Head Of the Department at State level. Director, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services is the Technical Head and functions under the Commissioner, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services.

District Level Administration:

Deputy Director, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services heads the District level administration. District and Taluk level administration functions under the concerned District Zilla Panchayats.

Taluk Level Administration:

Assistant Director, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services is the head of Taluk level administration of the department.

Effective Grievances Redressal Mechanism :

Commissioner/Director at State level, District Deputy Directors at various District level, concerned Assistant Directors at Taluk level or designated Nodal Officers will take necessary action in addressing to the grievances of livestock owners and general public.
